2011-2012 Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador

Lesley Tenorio from Waukegan, Ill., loves being a Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador and states, “I have the great opportunity to help other students eat better and be more physically active. I get the privilege to influence other students toward healthier lives.”

Lesley is currently an eighth grade student at Miguel Juarez Middle School. She plays the cello in the school orchestra and is in the National Junior Honor Society. She loves to read and is very thankful for the supportive role her parents play in her life.

In her role as a student ambassador, Lesley hopes to help create healthier lunch options in schools throughout the state of Illinois. The student ambassador loves to encourage Fuel Up to Play 60 to her peers by motivating and telling them how much fun it is to eat healthy and be active. Lesley says the most rewarding part of her Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador experience so far has been, “the opportunity it has given me to be involved in something amazing and that has a huge impact on the rest of our lives.”

Lesley’s favorite dairy food is low-fat milk, although she admits to also enjoying low-fat ice cream and frozen yogurt. Her favorite way to stay physically active is by participating in Tae-Kwon-Do, something she does weekly. “It’s fun because it’s challenging.”

Lesley has fully enjoyed her Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador role and is extremely grateful for the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., for the Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Ambassador Leadership Summit, where she and others alike expanded their leadership skills and worked together to make Fuel Up to Play 60 even better.
