These nutrition learning units provide schools with everything needed to teach a healthy eating program.

In order for kids to follow a balanced diet, they need to first learn just what a balanced diet is. These nutrition learning units provide schools with everything needed to teach a healthy eating program. This will give students the tools they need in making their school a healthier place through the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

Little D’s Nutrition Expedition™
Little D's Nutrition Expedition™ transports 2nd grade students back to the time of medieval castles and dragons where they learn the basics of healthy eating from Little D the Five-Food Group Dragon and his Royal Food Family friends. Ten story-based activities that help students develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, support both the 2005 and 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate, and supplement your language arts programs.

Arianna’s Nutrition Expedition™
Hold on and get ready for a trip around the globe with expert sleuths Arianna Bones and Marcus Muscleman. Third to fifth grade students solve nutrition mysteries to learn about healthy eating in Antarctica, on the Orient Express and at other exciting venues. The eight lessons/activities supports both the 2005 and 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate, and supplements your language arts and health curricula as students record their global adventures in nutrition journals.

Practical activities, online games, and more are provided to help students retain the lessons and make learning fun. The games are designed to reinforce major objectives in the Little D’s and Arianna’s Nutrition Expedition programs. These include identifying and classifying foods into the Five Food Groups, creating nutritious Combination Foods and identifying the health benefit of each food group.
