Bridges to Wellness will help school districts meet the nutrition education goals in their local school wellness policies.

Connecting Classroom Learning and School Meals

Bridges to Wellness is designed to "bridge the gap" and bring classroom educators and school nutrition professionals together to make nutrition learning come alive. Targeted to students in grades 5-10, these free, interactive nutrition education lesson plans provide:

  • Classroom Instruction (gaining knowledge)
  • Application Activity (demonstrating gained knowledge)
  • Cafeteria Connections (putting knowledge into practice and changing behavior)

Lessons address the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans with an emphasis on Food Groups to Encourage (nonfat and low fat dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains).

For more information and access to lesson plans, visit the School Nutrition Association.
