Breakfast=Achievement

As school nutrition program manager for Midwest Dairy and as a parent with school age children, I see firsthand the many challenges schools are facing today. Thankfully schools are working to find solutions, including decisions affecting the health and well-being of our children.

Midwest Dairy Council is also aware of these challenges and has taken steps to support schools in improving school nutrition. For example, we’re awarding competitive grants to schools participating in the National School Breakfast Program in our region to assist with the implementation of expanding breakfast options. If your school or a school you know would benefit from an expanding breakfast grant, apply today! Applications are due this Friday, May 7, 2010.

Midwest Dairy Council is also offering grant funding for high school athletic programs to showcase the benefits of chocolate milk as a refuel sports drink. If you work with high school athletic programs, consider applying for the Win-Win! Refuel with Chocolate Milk Grants. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 14, 2010.

The application deadlines for these grants are quickly approaching. I encourage you to share these grant opportunities with your local school or district. I am excited about the many success stories these grants are sure to bring. Help us make that success story happen in your school and please share your experience here!
