Fuel Up to Play 60 empowers youth to take action for their own health by implementing long-term, positive changes for themselves and their schools.

Almost anyone who knows football is familiar with the NFL song asking, “Are you ready for some football?” Well, this football season there is reason to get your school “ready for some NFL excitement and wellness.”

To kickoff the 2010-2011 school year and get everyone excited about Fuel Up to Play 60, we’re working with the NFL and National Dairy Council to kick off Fuel Up to Play 60 and celebrate the return of the NFL season with Back to Football Friday.

On Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, we’re asking students and staff at schools to show their NFL team pride for the chance to win a $10,000 NFL PLAY 60 health and wellness grant, as well as a special visit from an NFL player. This is a great grant opportunity to support new physical education equipment and resources in your school, and receive national recognition as a NFL PLAY 60 Super School.

Getting involved is easy. Register your school online and submit three essays (each in 100 words or less) and three to six photos demonstrating your school’s team pride to www.NFLRUSH.com/backtofootball by Sep. 17, 2010. For complete details, review the official contest rules. And, be sure to mention Fuel Up to Play 60 or the National Dairy Council when you register your school and have to indicate how you heard about Back to Football Friday.

Are you and your school ready for some NFL excitement and wellness? Remember, this isn’t just for the kids… I know there are many of adults out there who will enjoy Back to Football Friday in your school as much (or maybe more?) than the kids!
