Questions

I am trying to find the workbook called "Exercise Your Options" is this still available or is there another version of this paper backed work book? Thank you.

It is a Dairy Council of California Curriculum. The website is www.dairycouncilofca.org/Educators/ClassroomPrograms/ProgramsEYO.aspx . Looks like it is $42 dollars per kit but there is a button to “order outside of California” so might be more. Hope that helps! Lisa McCann

what is the name of the dairy animal of which we commonly refer to the females as cows?

The animals that produce milk for human consumption are bovines, and while we typically call all of them “cows,” a cow is actually a female that has had a calf. For dairy animals, that’s usually when they are about two years old. Prior to that, a female dairy animal is a heifer. A male is a bull when it is a calf, and if kept for breeding, is still called a bull as an adult. Hope that answers your question! Lisa McCann

Who do we contact about a dairy vending machine for our school?

Great question! If you type in dairy vending in the search bar on our webiste , it will take you to a resource page . The resources include a business model and a listing of vending companies , contact information, and vending machine options. Hope that helps.

Do you have a resource that could help us make teacher got milk posters to frame around our school since we are now a health science school? Thanks for any help! Teresa

You can check out www.milk delivers.org/online-ordering/ for FREE milk mustache materials. The recipe for making your own is: Combine 1/3 milk & 2/3 ice cream( softened); mix with a whisk until smooth. Use srawberry or chocolate ice cream and milk for flavored milk mustaches .

I use Little D as part of my curriculum in second grade. Will you be changing the program since the food pyramid has changed? Just wondering? Thanks, Sally towne

Hi Sally, USDA is still keeping the Food pyramid graphics along with the new My Plate. The Little D curriculem wil be updated online and has moved to the Fuel Up to Play 60 site http://school.fueluptoplay60.com/tools/nutrition-education/lessons.php. Keep checking for updates. Think of My Pyramid as a whole day concept and My Plate as a meal concept. . Let me know if you have any addiotnal questions. Lisa McCann
