It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, the old saying goes, but how you play the game. Still, the taste of victory can be pretty sweet. As the students at Sunnyside Elementary School recently discovered, healthy competition can serve as a great motivator, especially when boys are pitted against girls.
Three days a week, students at John Metcalf Junior High School in Burnsville, Minnesota have the option of purchasing a heart healthy sandwich or salad for lunch, thanks to the new portable food cart at their school’s cafeteria.
Elm Creek Elementary School’s Wellness Team embraced several Fuel Up to Play 60 initiatives in their first year of participation in the program, and the fruits of their efforts are now proudly displayed on the wall of their school’s cafeteria as a daily reminder of the importance of eating healthy, getting active and making a difference.
