Health Fairs
Are you sponsoring a health fair for your school, community or business? No two health fairs are alike so we have provided you with a few ideas and resources to get you started.
Choose a Theme and Design Your Exhibit
- Fuel Up to Play 60
Use this nationally recognized wellness program which empowers youth to take actions to improve nutrition and physical activity at their school and for themselves. A majority of schools already have a wellness kit that includes banners and other signage. Interactive activities and/or dairy sampling are great additions! Check out these activity sheets and www.fueluptoplay60.com for additional tools and resources. - Dairy Sampling
You can coordinate samples of cheese, flavored milk, yogurt, fruit and yogurt smoothies, plus provide educational materials related to the foods you are sampling. How about making it interactive and doing a TASTE and VOTE or a milk mustache booth? - Think Your Drink Theme
Use the Think your Drink handout to highlight the nutrient richness of milk and compare to other beverage choices. Milk sampling would be a great addition! Check out the Health Promotion resources. - Nutrient Rich Foods
The Nutrient Rich Foods approach focuses on how to eat instead of how not to eat. Share this positive approach to getting the most vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients without too many calories in the foods you choose! - Lactose Intolerance
Lactose intolerance doesn't have to mean dairy intolerance! Showcase how milk and other dairy foods are an important and practical source of key nutrients for all people – including those who are lactose intolerant. - 3-Every-Day® of Dairy
This nutrient-packed theme can be coordinated with a variety of activities and handouts. Why not set up a Strong Bones Obstacle Course to promote physical activity while building bones? - Create Your Own Milk Mustache Booth
Host your own “milk mustache” photo booth. You can post pictures at the event itself or post through a social media site like Face book. Pass out materials that highlight the benefits of including three servings of low-fat and fat-free dairy every day!
