Flavor of the Fair 2019

After a long and brutal winter, it’s time to starting daydreaming of malts and ice cream from the Dairy Goodness Bar at the Minnesota State Fair. There’s nothing quite like Midwest Dairy’s super-secret malt recipe.

This year we’re celebrating our fifth year anniversary of the Flavor of the Fair, a special malt or sundae flavor available for one year only, selected by voters from three finalists flavors.

Last year’s winner – That’s S’more Like It – was fairgoer’s most popular flavor so far featuring graham cereal, tiny marshmallows and chocolate syrup over a vanilla malt or sundae. Previous Flavors of the Fair also include Pie ‘n the Sky in 2017, Call it Breakfast in 2016 and Salted Caramel Puff as the inaugural flavor in 2015.

The choices in 2019 are ever more alluring and drool worthy than ever before.

MINTesota Nice

MINTesota Nice

Just like true Minnesotans, the flavors in this option mingle nicely together – chocolate mint cookies, mint syrup and chocolate drizzle over a smooth bed of vanilla ice cream or malt. It’s the perfect palate refresher after (or between) your other favorite state fair foods.

Birthday Batter Blast

This flavor combines the Great Minnesota Get-Together with birthdays – two things we look forward to all year round. Celebrate with creamy vanilla ice cream or malt topped with birthday cake bites and rainbow sprinkles. Get the cameras out – you’ll want to share this colorful creation with your followers.

Late Summer Dream

Late Summer Dream

You don’t have to just dream about this flavor combination – the folks at Midwest Dairy have made it a reality. The rich vanilla ice cream or malt topped with zesty orange marmalade and crunchy vanilla wafers will have you thinking of warm sunny days, long after the summer sun has set.

Have a favorite? It’s up to you to help us decide which to serve at the Dairy Goodness Bar for the 2019 Minnesota State Fair. Vote for your top pick below, no later than Friday, April 12 at 11:59 p.m. CST. We’ll announce the winner soon after the voting has closed on our Midwest Dairy social channels.

All that’s left after that is for you to stop by and see us at the Dairy Goodness Bar to enjoy this year’s Flavor of the Fair!

Voting has ended.

To Love Dairy Leftovers is to Reduce Food Waste

The new school year is upon us, and my son, Topher, and I are on a mission to make it the best one yet. He’s a 6th grader, which means he’s now in middle school (sniff, sniff). And with middle school comes greater responsibility. While I will let his teachers define what this means in the classroom, I am going to work with him on what this means at home.

Deck the Halls with These Festive #DairyTraditions

Celebrating the most wonderful time of the year often means gathering with family and friends and putting your most festive foot forward to continue holiday traditions that have been passed down through generations.
