Midwest Dairy’s Ambassador Program is designed to build future dairy champions to promote the dairy community and give consumers an excellent dairy experience. Please click on the applicable state/division below for more information.

Vision

Nebraska’s Dairy’s Ambassador Program is designed to build future dairy champions to promote the dairy community and give consumers an excellent dairy experience. During the year, ambassadors will learn about the dairy community and will share their love for dairy with students and consumers at programs and events including Ag Literacy Festivals, Day at the Farm, Moo at the Zoo, and Nebraska State Fair.

How it Works

  • Up to five Dairy Ambassadors will be selected.
  • This is a one-year program running from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.
  • Ambassadors will be rewarded with a scholarship up to $1,000 based on the number of points earned.

Application Process

  • Applicant must submit completed application materials by December 1, 2017 through the online form or by contacting Kim Clark below.
  • Applications will be reviewed and notices sent before January 15, 2018.

Applicant Eligibility

  • Applicant must be enrolled full-time in a Nebraska post-secondary school.
  • Applicant must be able to complete program requirements listed below.
  • Applicant needs to provide their own transportation. Reimbursement for travel expenses (mileage and hotel) will be provided.
  • Applicant must communicate effectively through email and/or text messaging.

Earned Scholarship

Participants must collect points in EACH of the categories to be eligible for a scholarship. If points are only earned from one or two categories, no scholarship will be awarded. Points are subject to approval and will be tracked during the year based on participation and awarded accordingly.

800 – 1,000 Points $1,000 Scholarship
600 – 799 Points $750 Scholarship
400 – 599 Points $500 Scholarship

Program Requirements

Required – The following are required to fulfill the vision of the program.
Attend a Midwest Dairy Ambassador Orientation and Communications Training (dates to be determined). 100 Points
Attend the NSDA Annual Convention on February 27, 2018, in Columbus, NE, to be recognized and network with other leaders. 100 Points
Attend and present a summary of your program experience one Midwest Dairy Division Board Meeting in November of 2018. 100 Points
Industry Events – Must complete at least one activity/event in this category.
Dairy Farm Tour 100 Points
Job Shadow with One-Page Written Summary 50 Points
Local and Regional Agriculture Events (must receive approval prior to attending) 50 Points
Joint Commodity Ambassador Events (with Corn/Soybean/Pork, etc) 50 Points
Consumer Events – Must complete at least one activity/event in this category.
Ag Literacy Festivals 75 Points
Moo at the Zoo / Nebraska State Fair 100 Points
Husker Tailgates / Farmers Markets 50 Points
Hometown Community Events 50 Points
Communications – Must complete at least one activity in this category.
Blog Entries 50 Points
Social Media Post (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook with @MidwestDairy tag) 10 Points
Facebook Live Video 25 Points

  • Ambassadors will be rewarded with a scholarship up to $1,000 based on the number of points earned.

  • Applicant must be enrolled full-time at South Dakota State University for the duration of the appointment.
  • Applicant must be able to complete program requirements listed below.
  • Applicant needs to provide their own transportation and must have a valid driver’s license. Reimbursement for travel expenses (mileage and hotel) will be provided.
  • Applicant must communicate effectively through email and/or text messaging.

Attend and present a summary of your program experience at the fall South Dakota Division meeting of Midwest Dairy. 100 Points
Industry Events – Must complete at least one activity/event in this category.
Volunteer at a Dairy Farm Tour 100 Points
Job Shadow with One-Page Written Summary 100 Points
Attend Local and Regional Agriculture Events (must receive approval prior to attending) with a written summary including copies of social media posts of the events. 50 Points
Attend Joint Commodity Ambassador Events (with Corn/Soybean/Pork, etc) such as Hungry for Truth Training. 50 Points
Attend the Central Plains Dairy Expo in Sioux Falls with a written summary including copy of messaging and/or social media posts. 50 Points
Consumer Events – Must complete at least one activity/event in this category.
Dairy Fest / Fork to Farm Events 100 Points per day
South Dakota State Fair – Dairy Bar & Discovery Center 100 Points per day
Participate in Annual Ag Day event at post-secondary level 100 Points each
Hometown Community Events 50 Points each
Communications – Must complete at least one activity in this category.
Blog Entries 50 Points
Social Media Post (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook with @MidwestDairy tag) 10 Points each up to 50 points total
