by Theresa Reps | Dec 19, 2017 | Farm | 0 comments

Thank you to everyone who participated in Midwest Dairy’s #DairyTraditions Photo Challenge! We were excited to see your creativity and how dairy is a part of your holiday traditions. Our themes included dairy gifts/decor, milk pairings, baking with butter, #TBT family fun and MOOvie Night. As if the fun photos celebrating the holiday season weren’t enough, we gave away a grand prize of free cheesecake for a year along with two other dairy-fun prize packages. Congratulations to our winners Jenni Birker, Aubrey Fletcher and JW Schroeder.  Please enjoy a few of our favorites from the challenge and have a Merry Dairy Christmas!

What’s the window of time needed? I think what continues to amaze me about growing food for people and animals, in all the planning and preparation, a bountiful harvest is still mostly outside of farmers’ control.

What to Do with 1,080 Pounds of Butter

Every year the 12 finalists for Princess Kay of the Milky Way are carved in 90 pounds of butter, starting with the newly crowned Princess Kay. That’s right, NINETY pounds of butter and the finalists take every bit of it home with them. Every year, fair goers are curious about one thing: what will the finalists do with all that butter?

Agricultural Affairs Manager at Midwest Dairy

I’m a dairy fan from the cow to the delicious cheese, milk and yogurt. I grew up on my family’s dairy farm and now I work on behalf of farmers in the Midwest. I focus on creating quality content that showcases how farmers work to create the products we all enjoy (cottage cheese is my favorite).

In my spare time, I enjoy watching the Minnesota Vikings, spending time with my family and judging dairy cattle shows.
