Midwest Dairy’s partnership with Reach Out and Read National has created meaningful moments for thousands of children and families across the country. Reach Out and Read is the only national pediatric literacy model endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, making it a powerful platform for delivering evidence-based nutrition and health messages through trusted healthcare providers.

Because of the partnership’s national reach among pediatricians and healthcare teams, several dairy organizations were invited to participate. Midwest Dairy coordinated the inclusion of Dairy West, extending the program’s impact across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah.

Through this collaboration, 22,000 books were distributed across Midwest Dairy’s 10-state region, while an additional 14,000 books were shared throughout Dairy West’s footprint. Two curated book collections were developed and approved by Midwest Dairy and Dairy West: one focused on dairy nutrition and healthy eating and another celebrating farmyard fun and agriculture.

To amplify the program’s reach, an integrated omnichannel marketing and communications campaign was launched, including:

  • A dedicated website launched in November 2025
  • Newsletter promotions
  • Paid advertising and social media outreach
  • Earned media and newswire distribution

To date, the campaign has generated more than 720,000 impressions across all channels, nearly three times the original goal of 250,000. In addition, the clinician-focused webpage received more than 2,000 views, with the pediatrician handout and lactose intolerance parent resource emerging as the most frequently accessed materials.

Together, these efforts have expanded access to trusted nutrition information, strengthened connections with pediatric healthcare professionals, and reinforced dairy’s role as an important part of healthy childhood nutrition.
