Kansas State Fair
Experience the magic of the Kansas State Fair, where fun, food, and festivities collide for an unforgettable adventure! This annual extravaganza is a celebration of all things uniquely Kansan, from thrilling carnival rides and live music to mouthwatering fair food. Dairy is well-represented, and fairgoers have several opportunities to engage with dairy throughout the fair. The iconic Dairy Bar, operated by the Kansas Dairy Association, is a crowd favorite, serving up treats like hard-pack ice cream, soft-serve flavors, and even creative options. Visitors can also enjoy events like the Homemade Ice Cream and Topping Contest, and dairy foods demonstrations. For an educational twist, visitors can tour Agriland in the Pride of Kansas Building and visit with “Maybelle,” a life-sized model of a dairy cow, which offers a hands-on milking experience.
The initial version of what is now known as the Kansas State Fair was held in 1873, following the establishment of the Reno County Agricultural Society by a group of businessmen. In 1903, the fair was recognized by an act of the state legislature, which granted the fair association the authority to officially call its event “The Kansas State Fair.” The first titled fair was held in 1913. Throughout the years, the fair has grown significantly, and in 2024, over 328,700 people attended.
This year, the Kansas State Fair runs September 5-14, 2025. For more information about the fair, please click here.
