Students raising hands learning about dairy milking at Nebraska State Fair

Nebraska State Fair

From exciting concerts to thrilling demolition derbies, puzzle contests to bee competitions, the Nebraska State Fair has something for everyone. While enjoying the sights and sounds of the Nebraska State Fair, fairgoers also have multiple ways to engage with dairy! While strolling down the rows in the Dairy Barn learning about dairy cattle breeds, fairgoers also engage with Undeniably Dairy to learn how dairy farmers take great care of their cows and the planet. They can also enjoy milking demonstrations, learning how their favorite dairy foods come to be, and during Nebraska’s Largest Classroom, students and educators enjoy learning more about dairy.

The first Nebraska State Fair was held in 1859, while Nebraska was still a U.S. territory! The second Nebraska State Fair didn’t take place until 1868, by which time Nebraska had become a state. Since then, the Nebraska State Fair has grown to attract hundreds of thousands of attendees each year! This year, the Nebraska State Fair runs August 28 – September 7, 2026.
