Early in 2021, four Illinois college students were selected to serve as the Midwest Dairy Ambassadors. Throughout the year, this group promoted the dairy industry and supported Midwest Dairy’s mission to give consumers an excellent dairy experience at a variety of industry and consumer events in Illinois.

Events that the ambassadors attended included the Illinois State Fair, Marcoot Cheese Fest, Kilgus Breakfast on the Farm, Harvard Milk Days and University of Illinois football and basketball games. The four ambassadors reached over 100,000 consumers during their year-long experience. In addition, this group was skillful and committed to promoting dairy through several social media opportunities.

As a result of their participation in the program, each ambassador has been awarded a $1,000 college scholarship from Midwest Dairy. The 2021 Illinois Dairy Ambassadors included:

  • Rachel Scidmore, from Chadwick, Illinois, an agriculture leadership major at the University of Illinois
  • Justin Huff, from Savoy, Illinois, an animal science – pre-veterinary major at the University of Illinois
  • Briley Lenkaitis, from Eldorado, Illinois, an agriculture business – markets and management major at the University of Illinois
  • Katherine Czarny, from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, an animal science major at Southern Illinois University.
