SAINT PAUL, Minn. (August 4, 2026) – A new fair favorite is ready to make its debut. Midwest Dairy is proud to introduce “Moo-sota Apple Pie,” the 2026 Flavor of the Fair, available exclusively at the Dairy Goodness Bar inside the Dairy Building during this year’s Minnesota State Fair.
“The Minnesota State Fair is one of the best places to celebrate Minnesota agriculture, and we’re excited to introduce a Flavor of the Fair that brings together an iconic American dessert and the wholesome dairy products our farmers are proud to produce,” said Corey Scott, Chief Executive Officer of Midwest Dairy. “As we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Moo-sota Apple Pie is more than a new fair treat; it’s a celebration of the dairy farm families whose hard work, innovation, and commitment continue to make traditions like the State Fair possible.”
Now in its 11th year, the Flavor of the Fair tradition highlights a unique dairy-inspired creation that gives fairgoers something new to enjoy each summer. Inspired by one of America’s most beloved desserts, Moo-sota Apple Pie celebrates the nation’s 250th anniversary with the comforting flavors of apple pie blended into a rich, creamy dairy treat. Sweet, nostalgic, and made with real dairy, the limited-time flavor is a celebration of Minnesota dairy farmers and the traditions they help create every day. The apples are also sourced locally from Pine Tree Orchard, located in White Bear Lake.
The Dairy Goodness Bar, located inside the Dairy Building, will feature Moo-sota Apple Pie in addition to its lineup of fan-favorite malts, sundaes, and cones. Visitors can also enjoy milk, yogurt, Greek yogurt, cheese sticks, and other dairy favorites throughout the fair.
“Apple pie has always been a symbol of home, family, and celebration, making it the perfect inspiration for this year’s Flavor of the Fair,” said Shannon Watrin, Minnesota Farmer Relations Director, Midwest Dairy. “Paired with real dairy, it creates a treat that’s both nostalgic and uniquely Minnesota. We hope every fairgoer stops by the Dairy Building to give it a try.”
While stopping by the Dairy Building for the new Flavor of the Fair, fairgoers can also experience several of Minnesota’s most beloved dairy traditions. The 73rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way will begin her year-long reign as Minnesota’s dairy ambassador before taking her seat in the iconic rotating butter sculpting booth, where resident butter sculptor Gerry Kulzer will carve her likeness from a 90-pound block of butter. Throughout the fair, each of the nine Princess Kay finalists will also have their likeness sculpted while sharing their dairy stories with visitors.
Just steps away, visitors can raise a glass at the historic All-You-Can-Drink Milk Stand, proudly owned by Minnesota dairy farm families. Since 1955, the stand has served unlimited 2% white or 1% chocolate milk and remains one of the Minnesota State Fair’s most popular and affordable traditions. This year, fairgoers can once again enjoy unlimited refills for just $3.
From the first taste of the new Flavor of the Fair to watching butter sculptures come to life and enjoying an ice-cold glass of milk, the Dairy Building and milk stand continues to offer memorable experiences that celebrate Minnesota’s dairy farm families and the wholesome products they produce.
In addition to celebrating this year’s Flavor of the Fair, Midwest Dairy will be recognized as a 2026 Minnesota State Fair 50 Year Award recipient. The annual award honors individuals and organizations that have contributed to the fair for 50 years as employees, exhibitors, vendors, and volunteers. Midwest Dairy will be recognized during a ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Luther Auto Bandshell, recognizing five decades of bringing dairy experiences and traditions to Minnesota State Fair visitors.
