Partnering with Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Midwest Dairy has annually hosted Moo at the Zoo – a dairy-themed event bringing together consumers, zookeepers and dairy experts. Adapting to COVID-19 and keeping with tradition, Moo at the Zoo virtually took place this year as an interactive, three-day event.

The event consisted of three pre-recorded virtual field trips highlighting the similar care farmers and zookeepers give to their animals and the environment. The field trips included a dairy farm tour hosted by Sevastian Banuelos of Prarieland Dairy and an interactive online scavenger hunt. Expert special guests included a dairy farmer, veterinarian and dairy nutritionist. Through these online experiences, viewers were transported to the farm and witnessed animal care and sustainable practices firsthand.

Moo at the Zoo boasted an impressive turnout. The videos have garnered more than 93,000 views, and 200,000 people received e-newsletters including links to the virtual field trips. The field trips about animal care, domestic animals and zoo education and sustainability are available to watch on Facebook and YouTube and will remain posted for continued access on the zoo’s pages.
