Knowing the science behind dairy nutrition is important, but knowing how to communicate that information in a way consumers can understand is just as valuable.
Midwest Dairy recently partnered with dairy supporter and nutrition communications expert Melissa Joy Dobbins, MS, RDN, CDCES, owner of Sound Bites, Inc., to provide virtual communications training for Midwest Dairy’s Wellness Warriors.
The training gave participants an opportunity to strengthen their communication skills and explore practical strategies for communicating with clarity, confidence, and impact. Through pre-training activities and interactive discussions, Wellness Warriors practiced tailoring messages to different audiences and using storytelling to make nutrition information more relatable.
A key focus was learning how to translate dairy nutrition science into clear, practical messages that consumers can use in their everyday lives. Participants explored ways to communicate important information in a manner that is engaging, approachable, and easy to understand.
The training also created opportunities for Wellness Warriors to learn from one another. Participants shared experiences and discussed how they could apply the strategies across a variety of communication settings, including presentations, media interviews, and social media.
By investing in communication training, Midwest Dairy is equipping its Wellness Warriors with tools to share their expertise more effectively, build trust with consumers, and confidently represent dairy nutrition in conversations across the region.
The training is another way Midwest Dairy supports its Wellness Warriors beyond providing nutrition knowledge, helping them turn that knowledge into meaningful conversations that connect with consumers.
