Global cuisine event for health experts builds trust in dairy

Midwest Dairy partnered with the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative to sponsor the 5th annual global cuisine series, “A Taste of Culinary Nutrition from Around the Globe.” This series includes six expert presentations celebrating the significance of nutrition through various cultural cuisines, including Venezuelan, Hawaiian, German, Japanese, Afghan, and Indian. Dairy plays an important role in all these cultures. Registered dietitian Gabriela “Gabby” Puche highlighted the essential role that dairy plays in her native Venezuelan cuisine.

Gabby kicked off the series by discussing Venezuelan culture, with 450 live attendees joining virtually. After sharing details about her history and food traditions, she invited attendees to prepare dairy-inclusive dishes alongside her. During her cooking demonstration, Gabby emphasized the importance of dairy in supporting growth and development through key nutrients like protein and calcium. She also shared her personal experience enjoying low-lactose and lactose-free dairy, mentioning that she lives with lactose intolerance.

After the event, attendees were invited to share a photo of the dairy-based dish as part of a contest. The winner received Undeniably Dairy kitchen essentials, allowing them to continue enjoying cooking with dairy while sharing their passion with their network and patients.
