Midwest Dairy continued its efforts to build a strong pipeline of future dairy leaders by connecting with students at two key education and career events this fall. By engaging students early in their academic journeys, Midwest Dairy is helping young people explore career pathways in dairy while strengthening the long-term future of the industry.
Connecting with College Students at the University of Minnesota
Midwest Dairy participated in the 13th Annual Food Animal Networking Evening (FANE) hosted by the Gopher Dairy Club at the University of Minnesota. Approximately 50 students attended the event, which brought together organizations and students interested in careers related to food and animal agriculture.
As an event sponsor, Midwest Dairy hosted a booth during the networking portion of the evening, giving students the opportunity to learn more about careers in dairy and ask questions about the organization’s work. Conversations focused on Midwest Dairy’s Dairy Ambassador program, internship opportunities, and how students can get involved in the dairy industry beyond the classroom.
Following the networking session, students and organization representatives participated in a seated dinner. Students selected the organization they were most interested in sitting with, creating space for deeper conversations about career goals, professional interests, and next steps. The evening concluded with student-led presentations offering tips and best practices for securing internships and jobs, reinforcing the event’s focus on career readiness.
Reaching High School and College Students in Illinois
Midwest Dairy also connected with students at the Northwest Illinois Agriculture Industry Expo, held at Highland Community College in Freeport, Ill. The expo brought together high school seniors and college students pursuing careers in agriculture, providing an opportunity to reach students at an important decision-making stage.
At the Midwest Dairy booth, students learned about scholarships, the Dairy Ambassador program, and internship opportunities, along with the variety of career paths available within the dairy industry. These conversations helped students see how their interests and skills could translate into future roles supporting dairy farmers. Building the Future of Dairy
Through events like these, Midwest Dairy is helping students see the many ways they can contribute to the dairy industry. By building relationships with young people now, Midwest Dairy is investing in a knowledgeable, engaged next generation that will support dairy farmers and strengthen the industry for years to come.
