HPAI Update

Because highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been found in American dairy cattle, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have recommended limiting the amount of traffic on farms. In accordance with the recommended advanced biosecurity measures, and to help limit traffic into and out of farms, Midwest Dairy has temporarily suspended dairy ambassadors from attending on-farm events or off-farm events where dairy livestock is present. This will be in effect until further notice.

Requests should be submitted as soon as an event date is set and no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled event. Requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to ensure alignment with the purpose of our Dairy Ambassador program. Dairy Ambassadors cannot be requested to pass out show ribbons. We will do our best to fulfill your request, however, there is no guarantee a Dairy Ambassador will be able to attend your event. The Dairy Ambassador will be reimbursed by Midwest Dairy Association for appropriate mileage and travel-related expenses. It is expected that the requesting organization will cover or waive any meal, registration, or other event-related fees for the Dairy Ambassador.
