To help consumers ring in the winter holiday season, Minnesota-based retailer Coborn’s, provided some great entertaining ideas for shoppers by pairing Minnesota cheeses and pears a delicious, two-month promotion. The promotion was successful as store shoppers were eager to participate, fueling a strong increase in cheese sales during November and December as compared to the previous year.
Consumers enjoyed a variety of gouda, gorgonzola and blue cheeses produced by Minnesota-based Caves of Faribault and Eichtens Cheese at in-store demos in three stores. These sampling events resulted in a sales lift of 66 percent as compared to December 2017, and a nearly 49 percent increase in November as compared to last year. Shoppers also picked up materials on dairy benefits and suggestions for how to feature these cheeses while entertaining.
