2025 Princess Kay of the Milky Way butter carving at Minnesota State Fair

Minnesota State Fair

The Minnesota State Fair is an end-of-summer tradition, offering fairgoers unique opportunities to meet with local dairy farmers and learn more about how dairy farmers are dedicated to providing excellent care for their cows, communities, and planet. Attendees flock to the Dairy Goodness Bar to enjoy delicious treats, including the newest Flavor of the Fair. While they wait, fairgoers watch as Princess Kay and nine candidates sit in a refrigerated, rotating cooler while having their likeness carved into butter.

Outside the Dairy Building, fairgoers enjoy thrilling rides, educational exhibits, and the newest food on a stick. They also line up at (and return to) the All You Can Drink Milk Stand to enjoy fresh, ice-cold milk – perfect for a hot summer day!

The Dairy Goodness Bar is a must-stop for fairgoers who crave ice-cold malts, sundaes, ice cream, milk, and more. The ice cream and malts are made with Minnesota dairy farmer’s top-secret recipe, available ONLY at the Minnesota State Fair! Find more Dairy Goodness Bar facts here. The Dairy Goodness Bar is open daily from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM (except Labor Day, which closes at 8:00 PM) and is located at the corner of Judson Avenue and Underwood Street.
